What’s Super-Single Dad and Certified Master Inspector Austin Barbour and His Boys Been up to Lately?

Austin reports “nothing terribly exciting has happen over the last few months except events with my boys Dylan and Tyler, it’s really been great.” Austin and the boys went to SeaWorld for the first time last month, then down to Legoland for a nice get away weekend. Other recent adventures of the Barbour Boys have been trips to The Catty Shack Ranch on Jacksonville’s Northside. The big challenge for Austin this month is teaching Tyler to ride his bike without training wheels. That sounds exciting! Residential Inspector of America dives deeper into our inspectors’ recent whereabouts.

Wise Words of Advice

One last note from Austin is a reminder not to post ANYTHING on Facebook that you do not want to be seen EVERYWHERE! As you can see from the photo of Austin during his Elvis-phase, what’s posted on throw-back Thursday can be a little embarrassing when it ends up being printed in the company newsletter!

A Family Affair

Austin in his younger days

Meanwhile, Certified Master Inspector Allen Schimmelmann and his wife Kay celebrated 43 years of marriage. Allen shares “We met in our junior year of high school as members of a singing group, Sing Out Jax, which was the local cast of the international group, Up With People. I played guitar and banjo and she was a member of the chorus.” Allen still sings and plays guitar to Kay,

mostly her favorite songs from the 70’s and 80’s. Both Schimmelmann children and three grandchildren live in the Atlanta area. Recently they whole clan gathered together and rented a cabin in the North Georgia mountains for a family celebration.

Golf Charity Events

Returning back home to Florida, Allen played in the Bagger Vance Charity Golf Tournament in Sebring. It’s an annual event where 30 golfers from around the country team up to play the local golfers in the area. It’s a fun five day event and money raised goes to a different charity each year. It’s good to know these guys have so much fun playing, because they sure do work hard home inspecting!
